In the online application, each organization will have the opportunity to make their case as a deserving recipient. Applications will be reviewed based on the following considerations, including but not limited to:

• Completeness of application. Is there a concise description of the organization's history, mission, and programming?
• Organization / project demonstrates a commitment to broadening and enhancing arts activities in the local community. How broad is the potential impact on the local community and Augusta County specifically? Does it reach diverse audiences?
• Clear goals and plans for the future, including how the funds will be spent. Are the budget, timeline, and implementation of plans clearly outlined, are they realistic, are they measurable?
• Organization provides for a need within the community. Does the organization fulfill a need within the community? Does it demonstrate past community engagement?  

Independent, ADA-compliant arts organizations are eligible for arts activities in the area, including activities that provide opportunities for underserved, under-resourced, and under-represented communities. Payments to performers for specific performances are not eligible for this grant. 

Generally, the grant amount is $4,500 with a local match of $5000. The total amount of grants awarded will not exceed $9,500.  

1. Arts organizations should complete and submit the online form (below).
2. Staff will review each application for completeness and eligibility. Incomplete or ineligible applications will not be reviewed. 
3. Staff will make recommendations on levels of funding for each application. 
4. The Board of Supervisors reviews staff recommendations and takes final action on the application. 
5. Successful applicants will be notified by email.
