Augusta County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE-Augusta)

VCE connects Virginia’s land-grant universities with communities to provide evidence-based resources that promote safe, healthy, and resilient communities.  VCE-Augusta serves Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro by delivering research-based education from Virginia Tech and Virginia State University.

Programs and Services

4-H Youth Development: Augusta County has a strong 4-H youth program.  With a strong in-school program and over a dozen clubs and competition teams, 4-H helps youth build skills and reach their full potential. 

Agriculture & Natural Resources: Agriculture remains Augusta County’s #1 industry, ranking second in the state of Virginia in value of agricultural products sold.  Agriculture Agents provide information to residents and producers on commercial agriculture, land management, gardening, and forestry. 

 

Juneteenth Day Observance - Monday June 20, 2022

Many offices at the Government Center will be closed.

  • Introduction: Many offices at the Government Center will be closed on June 20, 2022, in observance of the Juneteenth Day holiday.

In observance of the Juneteenth Day holiday, many offices at the Government Center, along with the Augusta County libraries and Shenandoah Valley Social Services offices, will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022. 

Exceptions to the closure include the following:

Augusta Regional Landfill, Convenience Sites, Augusta County Service Authority

The landfill and convenience sites will be open on June 20. The Augusta County Service Authority offices at the Government Center will also be open. Please call (540) 245-5681 with questions. 

Voting Registration Office

The voter registration office will be open from 8 am - 5 pm for any voting questions.  Call (540) 245-5656 with any questions.

Parks and Recreation Facilities

The pools at Natural Chimneys and Stuarts Draft parks will be open from 12 pm - 5 pm. The Natural Chimneys Park visitor center and gift shop will also be open. The parks and recreation offices at the Government Center will be closed.
