The Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is seeking to employ an individual for an entry-level, full-time position for its Deputy Clerk - Civil Division.

The successful candidate will process with accuracy court orders on the outcomes of civil court proceedings; process incoming mail related to court filings; set up into a Case Management and Case Imaging System new cases and appeals; assist in the opening and closing of civil jury trials; assist attorneys and members of the public regarding case information, and other related duties as designated by the Clerk of Circuit Court.

The Civil Division is responsible for processing Court orders by indexing, scanning, and mailing to attorneys and pro se litigants after they are signed by the Judge. The Division is responsible for preparing all oaths to be given to elected and appointed officials. The Division is also responsible for processing appeals to the Virginia Court of Appeals and Virginia Supreme Court.

Skills required for a successful candidate include: excellent customer service; attention to detail; ability to multi-task under pressure; work as a team player, and proficiency in operating a computer, scanner, telephone, copier, and fax machine.

The minimum educational requirement is a High School Diploma. Higher Education in the civil legal field or studies and/or a combination of experience in the civil legal field (i.e.: courts, law firm) or as paralegal is preferred.

This position is full-time with an offering salary of $40,000. This position includes Augusta County benefits. Candidates must pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
